The role of organizational culture on knowledge creation, transfer, and implementation processes in innovative firms
(by Mr. Dimitris Labroulis)
As a knowledge process, innovation is a complex social phenomenon, which needs further investigation. The current literature is limited in defining the processes of knowledge creation, transfer and implementation that lead to innovation. Moreover, theory in organizational culture mainly focuses on its meaning, nature and its general effect on the behaviour of employees. Focusing on three leading innovative companies (based in Aberdeen, Glasgow and London ), this study attempts to explore how a company's culture may enhance, intra-organizationally, the knowledge creation, transfer, and implementation processes that enable organizational innovation.

Recruitment and Selection in the Creative Industries
(by Ms. Anna Malakate)
The "war for talent" has propelled the importance of recruitment and selection practices to unprecedented heights. For the so called creative industries, the effective recruitment and selection of creative employees is a pre-requisite for success. Creative organizations depend on the creativity of their staff in order to be able to offer novel and useful concepts, products and services to their clients. Although the area of individual creativity (what constitutes a creative individual) has been extensively researched over the past six decades, there is a dearth of empirical studies researching recruitment and selection in the creative industries. This study aims to shed some light into this area by exploring how clearly successful creative companies in the UK address the challenging process of recruiting and selecting talented employees.

The Changing Business School in the UK
(by Ms. Rosemary Skordoulis)
Rosemary's study aims to explore and identify the key forces and system dynamics underlying the implementation of methods and practices to initiate and sustain strategic change in Higher Education Business Schools. Observations and rich one-to-one interview (47 participants) data with staff have been collected and are currently being analyzed based on the qualitative grounded theory research method. Based on the findings, two in-depth case studies (one old and one new UK universities) will be compiled on business schools, which are currently in the process of restructuring. It is hoped that the study will supplement the existing understanding of current change processes within British HE institutions and develop models of best practice to unleash their power not only to respond to change, but also drive it.
