How are tensions and paradoxes of creativity managed by individuals and organizations?
Successful innovative companies excel in identifying and resolving creativity paradoxes. For example, this research has discovered that leading companies try to excel in both opposing forces of identified paradoxes, such as profit and creativity, structure and flexibility, individuality and collectivism, etc. This research has taken place within seven leading NPD consultancies in the US . This research is supported by a Carnegie Trust grant and has many collaborators including Professor Marianne Lewis ( University of Cincinnati ), Ms. Shannon Funk ( University of Cincinnati ) and Dr. Manto Gotsi ( University of Aberdeen ).

What are the different sources of inspiration?
Creative employees are required to constantly come up with new and useful ideas. This empirical research, therefore, investigates in detail what creative professionals "do". This study has taken place within three leading NPD consultancies in the US and aims to provide an in-depth insight into the processes that unfold in daily routines and to identify people's strategies for making connections between disparate sources of information (to enable the generation of innovative ideas).

How does technology affect creativity?
The value and benefits of technology within innovative environments are obvious and well-documented. However, technology may also limit employees' creative outcome. This stream of research within two leading NPD consultancies in the States focuses on identifying the negative or problematic consequences of the heavy use of technology within their working environments. This research is supported by a Carnegie Trust grant and is conducted in collaboration with Dr. Manto Gotsi.

How is self-esteem developed?
This exploratory study within seven leading companies aims to explore the different organization-based policies, programs and procedures that support the development of self-esteem within innovative environments. The focus is to identify factors that affect the development of self-esteem in real work organisations. This research is supported by a Carnegie Trust grant and is conducted in collaboration with Dr. Manto Gotsi.
